Here is the latest on the disappearance of Darryl:

I guess u will get to be the first to know since his is the first time I hve been able to get near a computer since Friday. I'd have PM'd you and a few others first..I was nearly killed at 0650 Friday when an idiot bith drivbing an '04 SUV came across several lanes of traffic in a left turn on Hwy 90 just outside of Pascagoula. I caugt her at the Grill on the right side and went airborne. Had surgery to rebuild left foot and ankle by a Keesler AFB surgeon who seems to know his stuff. I got home just a couple of hours ago and my baby brother just left me to get my shit out of my system. I had to remove a temporary cast from my right wrist so I can type at all. This had been very tough and I probably should still be in the hospital, but I needed to get home and to a computer. This is my first official act besides crying like a baby when I finally got here. I am going to try to get a post out tonight, but I am emotionally a basket case right now and pretty stoved up. As usualy, you guys kept me going. Share this with the group and I will catch up to all as quick as I can.
Now the odd thing is that I stayed conscious throughout all this except the surgery and all I could do was cut up with th edocs and nurses and he entire staff. Wasn't much else I could do anyway. I am so happy to be home and at a computer, but I did get a message that says Norton is screwed up, so I may have to deal with that.
Later...thanks for worrying, my friends!Sorry I had to cause you guys any angst. I will make it back.
Darryl

Hey, guys. Sorry I have been computer poor for a while and still have limitied access/time on one. Glad to see Jim got the word out although I am sorry to amke him the mailman. Am still one big wlking (actualkly non-waqlking) bruise, and the pain is sstill theree, but now managing it mostly with Tylenol. The leg is going to take some time to heal, and I may have to relearn to walk. The bike is toast. Still waiting for the lawyer to come up with her phone useage around 0650 last Friday. Have a beer bet that the young lady was either on the cell or putting on her makeup. She trurned across several lanmes of Hwy 90 on the coast and there I was at the same place and time. The noise will livew with me forever. The crazy thing is that I actually remember seeing myself flying through the air. I can't explain that one, but it happened.
Surgery to rebuild my ankel was succesful so they say, but I can't put weight on it for 6-12 weeks, and then the fun of learning how to walk and hold my balance begins. The new bike will be another Ultra....loaded. I will be back. Sorry to have to hit you guys with this news. Keep away from cagers using cellphones.

Hey Darryl sorry to hear your in pain. Sounds like you’ll be doing a lot of sitting. Might want to start looking at sheepskin, beads, or some other good stuff to sit on?
That is if ya didn’t already scrape your ass off? ;-)

Feel better, Will

The rear is still intact, but my left side is some pretty colors. That's apparently where I hit the ground, and certainly the side the truck hit me. I am sore as hell, but Tylenol arthritis strength seems to be working fine and I am off the dope completely...that stuff scares the crap out of me. I discovered I was making some pretty stupid decisions (even for me) while letting the pills do the talking. No more of that.
I am staying with my step-mom and baby brother here on the coast, and they are taking good care of me. I see the doc tomorrow afternoon, and I hope to have some good news then....at lest that the stitches are gond and I can start to pur some weight on the leg. Will, I think I have one of those beaded seat covers and I will hunt it down and give it a try. Good idea since I am sitting a lot lately.

Hitting the ground sucks, can't speak personally about the truck part, I prefer other stationary objects, as does my wife, but sure hope you feel better real soon. Glad it wasn't any worse.

It sems to be getting better day by day...but the leg will take some time. Thought I had an appointment at 2 PM today, but it was actually 2:15 Wednesday with the bone doc. Amazing how scambled dates and facts get when you're on drugs. Thank goodness I am only on Tylenol now. Ken, hitting the ground this time was a different experience from the last one. Just a huge thump and it was over. road rash is minimal, but all the bruising reminds me of when I was playing football many years ago.

Darryl just got his "permanent" casts and is getting tired of setting around. He only types with one hand and checks in when he can. He is staying with family because he can do so little for himself right now and he probably doesn't get as much computer time as he needs to keep him totally sane.

He goes to the doctor next week and he is hoping to get his casts off and be put into removable casts. With it being his ight hand and left foot, he is somewhat tied down. Billy the Banker has been over a couple of times to take him out into the world. His spirits are good andhe seems to be healing nicely. It is just hard to set around in the nice weather.

I talked to him last week...we compared notes about arm casts...they put them on almost to your shoulder with a bend at the elbow so that you can't scratch your nose or feed your face with that arm...it is the pitts...that is why he is in a hurry to get the cast at least cut down to the forearm...
