Well, the Texas Motor Speedway and all of the race fans escaped. Haltom City and parts of Ft. Worth didn't. The tornado(s) struck about 2 miles from where I use to live while I was in that area. I live about 20 miles from where this all hit. Watching the news this am and it is a mess. It tore through a couple of RV dealerships and tractor trailer storage/parking areas. RVs, trailers, buildings, houses, trees, and lots of other things didn't escape this storm. So far only one person is reported to have died. He saw the storm and ran the wrong way, into a lot with a large amount of used and stacked lumber in it. He ended up under a big pile of lumber crushing him. Had this storm cell hit the Speedway, there could have been a very large cloud hanging over the race on Sunday as those RVs would have been tornup like so much cardboard.

The community is already pulling together.
Please pray for those families who have sufferd loss of life or property.

God bless America.

Yep.

It gets pretty dicey around here sometimes espicially with these storms from the west. We've had some straight-line winds gusting up to aroun 75+ mph a few times. Not so bad coming from the South or North but the West are the killer ones. Just so happens my RV shed's broad side is facing East/West so it gets the brunt of the wind in those storms like last night.

We just happend to get lucky that the bad parts of the storm were not heading at us. Others to the South and East wern't so lucky.

If it's the one at 4103 E Belknap St Haltom City then that shop is REAL close to where the action was last night. But I think the big winds hit a about a mile or 2 to the North and East of that location. If It didn't get hit it was REAL close.

Might want to give him a call

And no, I don't know the shop I just looked it up and it's in the general area that got hit hard.

Let us know if he's OK.

Belknap is the one and he is like family to me. Pete and I go back about 20 years and I am trying to get in touch with him.

He normally sends me jokes every few days but nothing in the past week so I am concerned

Trying to contact him

After doing a bit of research...... There was a Minyards Food store about 1500-2000 feet SouthWest from where that shop is located was hit. The tornado then continued on an EastNorthEast path. It is possible but probably not likely that your friends shop was hit. So that's something. It got CLOSE though at the very least.

TXU the power company initally reported over 25000 customers without power this am. Most have been restored. Still a few thousand to go yet. They are working around the clock.

Both Ft.Worth and Haltom PDs have conducted house to house searches for folks in need. A few injuries reported but still as of yet only the 1 reported death in that area.
