I have recently gotten into the hobby of rasing Fish. Yesterday I set up a new 55gallon tank which required a new cabnet to support the tank.
Option 1: Buy a stand for around $200
Option 2: Build a stand for $ 96

Well I chose option 2: Here it is it took me about 7 hours give or take.

I already have them just need to expand and give them room. I have
two South American Jack Dempesy Cichlids
two African Bumblee Chiclids
five African Rainbow Chiclids
one American Blue Channel Catfish
two Plycostomas algee eaters
five Chineese algee eaters

They are split up between three tanks a 10 gallon a 20 gallon and the new 55 gallon. I will try to get pictures of the fish and post them when I can. It's kinda hard to get them to pose for a shot ya know.

Looks good

Hope that isn't a return air vent behind the cabinet and you don't have it blocked. Heaters and air conditioners don't work so good with the return vent blocked.

That is the return air vent but it is not blocked I left the cabinet 5 inches from the wall to insure it gets the proper air flow. I used to run heating and A/C I thought of that.

Keep the damn Dempesy's away from any others... Mean mothers they are.
The Chiclids will be very happy in a 55. BTW good looking tank stand.

I had a tank with some small Jack Dempsys that grew to be huge and had to be removed from the tank. The fish will grow in size in relation to its environment.

I bought a bunch of Cardinal Tetras for the tank and the Dempsies made short work of them. Just swam up to them, one big inward suck of water and they were gone in a flash, one by one.

I had a store down the street that traded the big ones for some smaller ones.

Looks good  We just sold a 55gl fish tank and stand because it was dry for about 4 years. But we enjoyed it when it was up and running :fishing:

Nice job!

I had a 55 but the fish were outgrowing it. We found a 125 complete with stand, canopy, wet/dry sump, UV sterilizer, VHO hood and a Fluval 400 on eBay, and drove to Phoenix to pick it up. It was whitewashed white, so Sugar and I sanded it down and stained it. Here's a pic:

It'll be one heavy mother to move that and change a filter! :Waving:
