The truth about diets
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition
and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting
nutritional studies.
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than
Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than
Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks
than Americans.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than
Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and
suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
CONCLUSION
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Kenny, you must have sent some of that bad weather down here...80% chance of rain today...that's the same as saying:"IT'S GONNA RAIN A LOT TODAY!"
I'd say it was all yours, but it just keeps coming. We've got chances for two more days yet and then again on the weekend. That's okay cause I'm going to be in KC for Friday thru Sunday. No, it'll be on four wheels not two.

Good morning. Jim, sorry to hear about the dog. As you know, I had to put mine down in June and it still hurts to lose what was almost a child. At least I got the chance to scratch the Paco's ears and enjoy his company this summer. Give Patty a hug for me since I know how she'll feel about her puppy. I am dealing with a recent tornado touchdown near my place so I am playing Civil Defense this AM and on the radio in my office monitoring and dispatching and following the radar. I'll do a few weeks of on the job training and then they will fly me to Dallas for training. I am a little nervous, and very excited, and a little worried about leaving friends and family to strike out on my own. . .but my real estate lady is single, just turned 50 and loves to dance. An update on my Lab, he's doing better and is eating finally after four days. He thinned down a little from the virus but is doing a lot better. I spent most of the weekend playing veterinary trying to get meds down him and he came out of it like a trooper. At least his strength is back and he can get up and down the steps to my deck on his own. Saturday, my son and myself had to fashion a towel as a sling and lift him to get him back in the house where I could watch him. I'm sure to most that would look rather hilarious, but at the time he had no strength to hardly walk let alone climb steps.
Hope everyone has a good day.

No sir. Purchasing a DQ coffee cup would be the smart thing to do if that's where one likes to hang out, drink coffee, and chat with friends. When I lived in SanAntonio I ate at Bill Miller's alot for lunch (#5 with fries, the cheapest fried chicken plate which they don't have anymore) and had one of their mugs so I could get my iced tea cheaper. 36 cents at the time, don't know what refils cost now but 36 cents is a lot cheaper than 99 cents. And when I was only making $7 an hour every penny counted. Still does.

Yep, LA-LA-land and San Diego exhaled....the wind has changed....most of it was blowing out to sea, but we now have an onshore wind...so last week's smoke that went 800 miles out to sea is coming back...
But at least the East (Santa Anna) Winds have stopped the the hosedraggers have a chance now and hopefully no more lives are lost...they have some really scarey firestorms down there every 10 years or so...
There is a Sidecar Show in Griffith Park this weekend...I went last year...it is the biggest gathering of Hacks on the West Coast...something like 27-28 years now...but I won't be riding through that smoke to get down there...I will miss seeing some year tricked out rigs...
