Mornin all, cool weather on the way folks. Oh, it may get wet around here as well. Never got the keys out for the cage all weekend, rode everywhere I went for a tune of around 420 miles or so. The melody was oh so sweet all weekend, and yes it is possible to bungy two thirty packs of cold beverages to the back rest.:D

Friday brings out the party animals tonight, Kansas State Fair kicks off tonight with entertainment, carnival rides and attractions, and the smell of livestock everywhere.:D You Texicans would feel right at home with all the bulls and horses being on display.

I've got tickets to 'Chicago' (not the city) on Sunday evening and it is also the day for the annual motorcycle parade through the fair grounds. Last year around 350 or so bikes showed up to parade around the streets of the fair and show off their rides. After the parade, the beer gardens seemed to be the place to gather and visit about the days activities and the concert that evening. Good times for everyone.

Must be a Texas thing for CHL. My renewal qual consists of sending in a check with my renewal app. I think the requal is a great idea...gives an excuse to go do some fun shooting and requalify at the same time.

This is my 2nd renewal. Every 4th year then renew with a 3-4 hour class and requal. In 2005 they made renewals last 5 years and starting on your 3rd and subsequent renewals no class or requal except once every 10 years, just send a check to the state.

It is a good excuse to get out to the range and get some plain English versions to the changes to the laws. Although I am gonna dig the extra year and not having to pay for a class except every 10 years now.

Mine expires in about 2 weeks. I should have and would have taken the renewal course a couple of months ago but the whole ankle thing put a damper on that. I had to wait until I was able to stand relatively stable for the requal. So I'll probably have an overlap of not being licensed for a few weeks in October. I don’t carry much but it’s nice to have the license when I do so I don’t have to worry about getting pulled over explaining to a LEO. Just wish I could carry at work with all these nut job students running around. About the only defense I have is a relatively thick door and the pile of network gear in front of my desk.

Thanks!Good morning y'all! Thanks for the Dinero and LB report!

As far as the swelling of the foot and ankle. . .mine still does too from time to time, especially if I've been doing a lot of dancing. My doctor gave me an elastic support sleeve/stocking to wear. It was open toed and came up to just below my calf. It was tight and, per my doctor, combined with walking or elevation, actually helped push the swelling out of my foot and ankle. According to him the heart is a pump (no suction) and the tightness of the sock helped recirculate the blood and fluid that was pooling in the damaged area. I'd wear it during the day under my regular sock and yes, it did work.

It still hurts bending my foot toes up but that's just something that's going to have to get streached out and worked on. I actually rode a bit on Saturday with Dan (TXHawg) and we put about 90 or so miles in. By the end of the day my ankle was hating me. Picking the scoot up off the sidestand is the toughest part. Stopping isn't too bad.

And I am very concious of foot placement on my boards.

Overall I feel great. The minor discomfort of the ankle doesn't compare to being able to get back out and ride. I missed the smells, the wind, and just being "alone" that you can't get from driving a car or truck.

I still have a long way to go with rehab on the ankle. I don't have the strenght to lift myself up on the ball of my left foot by itself. But everyday I'm getting stronger and more range of motion comes back to me. The scooter is just extra rehab. :D

That was a concern for me, too. Took a few weeks of gradual stretching and hot soaks to get the foot muscles to quit complaining. All of that time in casts not doing anything makes them a bit testy. Now, other than an occasional thrill as the achilles pops, the pain from the sore foot muscles is nearly 100% gone. Greg, you sound like you are way ahead of my schedule with the rehab. Good on ya!

I don't have the strenght to lift myself up on the ball of my left foot by itself. I couldn't do that either! It really surprised me. Mine wasn't a strength issue it was like the lines of communication between the brain and the foot had been cut. It wouldn't budge. . .which is really, really bad for a dancer! The arm lays under the passenger foot board when laid down.I can sit in the seat .push the arm down and the bike will rock right onto the stand,no fuss no muss.I park it that way as much as possible because it is easier,no that expensive compared to others and easier than all the others.

Good luck Darryl, hope they cough up the dough so you can get on with your life. I sure would like to see you in the saddle again, maybe you need to start a lawsuite for punitive damages and stress over not having a bike.

Mornin everyone, 47 wonderfully cold degrees in Kansas this mornin and yes I rode to work.:D The cold front passed and warmer temps are in the forecast though. Bambi season for us bow hunters starts Monday next week and it will probably be 100 degrees, I really like hunting in the cold and not heat.

Have a nice and safe day out there, compadres.

Kenny :polar:

Kenny, that idea has been brought up....my lawyer wants to sue Allstate for encouraging the type of behavior I have been stonewalled with. I am definitely stressed for not having a motorcycle to use to unwind after work and on weekends.
BTW, it is definitely Bambi season. Saw a guy dragging a fresh road kill off of a busy street last week (the deer are in the neighborhoods when they start moving)....wonder if them backstraps were still good.

If the meat wasn't damaged and he got it cooled quick enough, they should still be good. He needed temperatures like we had this morning to make sure it didn't spoil.

I think if your lawyer thought he could win extra damages, then go for it. The only thing is, how much is he going to get out of the settlement and how much are you going to get? The real problem is he is in it for the money and so is the insurance company.

The lawyer I have is a good friend...which means he will probably try to double screw me on the fee, but so far, he doesn't seem too interested in a big paycheck for himself.
The deer was very fresh roadkill, so I am sure most of it made it to the freezer.

Mornin all, 48 lovely degrees again this a.m. and I'm really enjoying the clear, calm days we've been having.

Greg, how's the foot and ankle? Wish the little one Happy Birthday for us.

Durl and Tonya, fresh venison coming up. Bambi season starts Monday and I have a buck permit as well as a doe permit. I'll try to put some extra meat in the freezer this year so we can fry up some steaks one of these days.

Kenny :polar:

Foot and ankle are getting there. Ankle hurts like heck at the end of the day so it's elevation and ice for awhile to bring the swelling and pain down. Strength and motion are slowly coming back as I continue to work on it.

And I will definately wish the little lady a happy birthday from y'all.

Tonya we finished first last year and this year we're starting at the bottom, go figure. I'm sure the other teams didn't improve that much over the summer and it sure isn't the lack of trying on our part. Besides, this mixed league is just for the fun of it anyway, there is no money involved at all.

I'm pretty sure I played for Durl's softball team but from afar. As far as I'm concerned, if there wasn't a cooler in the dug out it wasn't softball.:D

Morning all, it's 42 degrees here in Kansas this a.m. My kind of temperatures, maybe summer is actually over with.:071:

Kenny, may well be the same team...we always had beer in the dugout. I remember years ago when I was playing semi-pro, I had back trouble that was not making things easy for me. I hit upon the idea of "anesthesia". I discovered that during warmups, about 4 Heinekns would get me going, and then the other 2 in the 6 pack helped me relax for the game. It worked all summer, and I had a 12-2 record that year.

It was 58 degrees this AM so some of that Kansas air must have leaked south. We're hoping that'll spell the doom of the love-bug season.

It's early and I have to head for the office, had too much "suede" last night, but enjoyed it nonetheless...DNM arrived around 6 and we joined up with Billy the Banker for a bit of motorcycle talk and food. Hate this work crap when I have company, but used the discretionary sick time last spring with the wreck and this is exam week so they won't allow us to take personal leave time. Not a prblem because I think Jim is enjoying sleeping late. Everyone have a great day!
