Motors roaring, dogs barking, the sound of horses on the pavement, bands warming up and the occasional siren from an out of town fire department. Kids everywhere with balloons and cotton candy. Clowns on the front walk and cheerleaders across the street while the police on bicycles circle around the motorcycles setting up. Tractors of all kinds in front of floats with Little League teams and music from the barbeque and salsa bands floats through the air.

The parade is getting set up out in front of the house and people are everywhere.

Went out for a ride in the twisties up to one of my favoreite Mom/Pop Cafes...but looks like Mom/Pop took the day off also...rode some more twisties back towards town...had the Colt1911 and a box of shells on the bike....so I stopped and blasted up a dirt mound a bit....policed up my mess and headed home...cleaned the 45 and still thinking about breakfast...be it brunch time now...

Wife is still snoozing...she put on the roast last night...we buy a wrapped roast that a local market prepares...bake it at 275* for hours and it turns out like deep pit...so that will fill my belly later today...Grandson is s'pose to arrive today for fireworks tonight...

So far my day is JUST GRAND....hope you all have a Safe and Wonderful 4th...salute at least one flag today as we all should EVERY DAY...

Had some really nice lady realize too late that she was going too fast in the left lane next to me coming up to a stop light and locks up her brakes (I'm guessing she was testing the anti-lock function, they didn't work). Well she starts moving over to the right then she sees me. Her eyes got real big then she decided that she'd rather rear-end the blazer in front of her then kill someone this morning. She managed to stop about 2" from the rear bumper of the blazer after some quick brake pumping... I saw it happening and was ready to make my getaway. Had the route planned out and nobody was behind me to mess me up. Luckily I didn't have to us my escape route! Ya know, I have close calls while riding quite a bit and most of the times I have to evade and defend myself. This one time the lady in the car actually saw me! After the lady got stopped I gave her a "thank you" nod for not trying to kill me, light turned green and we went about our separate ways.

Another day on two wheels..

893.4 miles round trip in 16 hours. I would have had it done in 14 hours but I had to wait two hours at the Longshot Saloon for Doug to wake up.

gettin there. standing up still causes a major rush of blood into my ankle which isn't very pleasent. i over did it yesterday. and the no load bearing on that foot is a hassle as well. but having the boot as opposed to a cast is nice as i can take it off and let my foot cool down. can't imagine a cast in the summer. my personal nurse is taking very good care of me, i just had some homemade icecream, nothing better. of course she only gave me about a half cup as i'm not doing to much to work off the extra calories. i don't think she wants me gettin fat :D

she does have her mean side though, she hasn't let me have any scotch yet :(

Mornin all, had a couple days off from work kind of unplanned. A chemical plant about 5 blocks from our factory exploded Tuesday mornin. The whole town of Valley Center, Ks. was evacuated to allow firefighters to put the blaze out and make sure none of the solvents and paint thinners didn't spread into houses and businesses around town. It was a real mess for awhile, we watched solvent tanks exploding and shooting off 400 feet into the air. The debris ended up in peoples yards and business parking lots. The most amazing part of it was no injuries or fatalities, the fire was started by static electricity near one of the flammable liquids.

Just getting in. . .the ride down was great. . . hit a detour on 317 (Lake Belton was over the road) which sent us over to I35. Looked south down I35 and it was raining so hard you couldn't see across the street. We headed north a couple of blocks to a truck stop where we waited it out. Hit I-35 and went to Horny Toad HD where we ran into Mr. Dinero himself and his lovely Patty. We left them there, went next door for a bite to eat and that's the last time I was dry. Hit rain leaving and rain almost all the way back home. . . about 147 miles of it. . .had to stop four or five times until it slowed down. It took almost six hours to ride 147 miles! I really did have a great time though. . .

I was going to go to a party tonight, but I do believe I'm going to run a hot bath, pour a glass of wine, light a few candles and have a relaxing evening at home where it's dry and warm. Tawanda is filthy but she's going to have to wait her turn!

The company was great. . .no complaining or grumbling. . .we would stop in a roadside park or a parking lot. . .somewhere with some cover. . .talk, laugh, maybe drink a beer if we thought we could. . .it was really a great day. I love to ride so I'll take the rain in order to experience the sunshine!

Didn't do anything special this past weekend except sleep and do chores. Too tired and sick from this viral crap, two weeks of this stuff is really gettin me down. I did manage to get in about 80 miles on the springer yesterday in the rain and sunshine, it was a good ride.

I bought some new fishes for the aquarium. 8 glass catfish. They are a suprise for when my little ladies get back from Seguin. They have been wanting some but I've only seen them in wally world and their tank maintenance is very questionable so I waited until I saw them at a LFS.
