Mornin all. If it's any consolation Robert, it's rained on me while riding to work this morning. A cold front rolled through this morning and brought a few morning showers, they should be ending about now. The rest of the day should be nice with light winds and a high around 78.

I had just finished getting the ultra cleaned up last night, now she's covered with water spots and a little road grime. I'm hoping next week brings some dryer weather and more riding weather.:278:

I guess I should watch my words......called DNM a Sissy...well, it is windy and 30% chance of T-storms...Weather Radar is ugly so I will be taking the truck to work...don't mind rain and a little wind is okay, but don't then both at the same time...yesterday afternoon part of the ride on freeway home I was crabbing the bike to remain in my lane.....

So I am the Sissy of the day.........

BillyB and I had lunch yesterday in Belton as he was on his way to Mississippi. I rode a little ways up the road with him and then stopped to visit a friend south of Waco. On the way back the temp sign at the bank said 95° at 6:00 pm.

No rain.

I think some of that 95 degree stuff is already heading for or has arrived on the South Coast. The weather is very sneaky this time of year. It lures you outdoors with nice mid 60-low 70 temps and before you can get the paper back to the cofee cup location, the thermostat gets kicked up to steam bath.
Got some grass to cut today, so might as well plan on doing some sweating.

Haven't used the A/C in a few days....it is very cool on the Left Coast for June....came out of the gym all sweaty yesterday morning for a ride home on the scooter...had to go back inside and get into some dry clothes...it was cold just standing by the bike....got home and thought about a dualsport ride across a fire road...looked at the FireService web cams....clouds and rain everywhere in the mtns...saw SNOW on one webcam in the area I wanted to ride......NOT

Just got back from another trip to the gym...the DOC said loose 10 pounds and 20 points off the BP or go on pills....so the gym trips are definitely in my future to stay off BP pills.......

Last time I saw my DOC, he said 10 pounds and 20 Points on Blood Pressure or I go on the pills......so I have rationed myself to one 24 oz mug of Joe in the morning and 2 diet Pepsi, lotsa water and a beer or two....AND I AM HATING IT.......but go back to the doc in a couple weeks and I want a headstart on those things and not take some stupid pill every morning...

After the dayshift weenies leave the Sheriff HQ, I am going to the gym there and try to raise my heart rate enough to burn a pound or two to keep the DOC happy....so far us Retarded ol Farts can still use a very nice gym...just don't want to put up with the day slugs there....

Got up at 0600...Jim, you are a slacker.....went to the gym and abused this old body...came home and put some NAPA Ameraseal in the scooter tires...washed at the bike...it hadn't been washed in a month....showered this old body...grocery shopping on the scooter....now home...gonna vegatate and watch the Nascar race and be bore with the road course...theose drivers only know how to turn left...confuses the heck out of them when they have to downshift and turn right....

I read about NAPA Ameraseal on another forum and it got good reviews, anyone use it?

It is a sealant you put in your tires like RIDE-ON before you get a puncture and it seals the leak (hopefully)...RIDE-ON got a bit pricey and you have to order it...a local NAPA store carries Ameraseal and it is cheaper...2 things in its favor...so I will give it a try...BUT hope I do not have to test its sealing effectiveness....

Nope it is already Saturday for me...we are on 4/10s with friday off...I am sitting in a MickeyDee's in Mesquite, NV typing this...about to go across the road and check into the Virgin River Hotel.....370 or so miles ......

Forecasting heavy thunder bumpers and rain this afternoon...so a good time to shut down and check out the hotel pool....

Thunderbumpers came and went..really CAME...but it is nice now....bike is ugly from rain scars.........but it is going to get worse in the next two weeks...

Morning...last full day in South Dakota...it rained every half hour in buckets...lot of t-cells sweeping across the state....went into Sturgis yesterday and bought a PIN...they didn't make much off me....some old rally stuff.....

Homeward bound...made it as far as Casper (290 miles direct route)...took me 450 miles to get here...started across Montana, but the weather gods didn't like me so I turned tail and headed south...

Got in some good riding yesterday...the tunnel pics on Needles and Iron Mtn hwys didn't turnout to good...the camera couldn't focus fast enough in the darken conditions...saw the largest herd of buffalo that I have seen since I was a kid...estimate 200...lotsa of new calves and one big old bull to acception to a couple scooter riders

Made it home Sunday noon PDT...turned tail and headed south with the really bad weather in Montana...the Flaming Gorge pic has a third post on the tourpak...that is the naked flag holder...the winds and rain in SE Montana ripped it off..never had that happen before and I have been in some really bad winds before...but ol man Grumpy survived the ride....

All you had to do is get a week kitchen pass and you could have been there...always sleeping bag space in the room....since I candied out from all the rain and came home...I had many voicemails and emails about problems at work...so I am vacationing at work...I love it when vendors come in and work when I am gone..always takes twice the work to get it straight again...

BUT I AM back on vacation tomorrow for the rest of the week...cell phone gets turned OFF....

Went to San Antonio Monday for Kyle's graduation from tech school. Patty is going this morning to pick him up. He'll be home for about three weeks and then he is going to Washington D.C. to be part of the Presidential Guard.

Was supposed to be sitting in a deposition right about now, but that got cancelled as the insurance for the nice lady who tried to kill me with her SUV offered me the full $25K of her insurance. Real bikers get tatoos and pierce things. I'm not sure tires count. As soon as I get a chance, I'll post a picture of the piercing on the rear tire of my Ultra. I picked up a nail at the Shiner Brewery that went into the "corner" of my tire, came back out and then bent into a horseshoe shape as it hit while the wheel was turning. Sounded like a bearing or a rod for a little bit. It never got into the air and I managed to pull it out. So far I have ridden it about 200 miles to get home. I'll take it over to my Indie to check it out and see if I can put a tube in to save the tire. I'm a little concerned that it may affect the integrity of the tire. If he nixes the idea, I guess I'll be putting a new one on after only about 3,000 miles. My pretty face is worth more to me than the price of a tire.

This seems to be the week for nails in tires. Glad it didn't leave you stranded in the middle of TExas nowhere, Jim. Still have to gert mine repaired tis AM, and since the nail is right on the edge of the tire, I may be springing for a new tire myself.

Ron, I feel for ya. I just got a call from one of the teachers I used to work with. They can't find equipment, inventories are all screwed up (I have the entire db with me at home on a thumb drive), the network is not working half the time, and the new guy is busy coaching soccer and couldn't care less. I told them for a small fee (a month's pay at my last scale), I'd go there for a few hours and straighten it all out. Life is good!:woot_jump:

Got to work and actually accomplished a couple things today....boss BBQ tri-tip with beans, salsa, homemade torillas and chocolate cake that gave me a headache because it was so rich...

But I still have to work tomorrow....

The sun is shining and ride home was really nice...even the traffic wasn't bad.........

Good morning, and welcome to the offical first nasty weather of hurricane season on the South Coast. Bad tropical low off the west coast of Florid is kicking some nasty thunderbumpers up to us with worse to follow later. 2 tropicals out in the Atlantic has already put me on alert just in case...I guess the higher ups are nerveous...we usually go on alert when the storm nears the Gulf of Mexico.

Yep...we get back into triple digits again this week...

Bought a new rear tire last week on sale....checked air pressure yesterday and it had lost 2 pounds...checked the plug area...there appears to be another cut near the puncture...so I guess that screw did more damage than I could see when I repaired it....so gotta get the back tire off and get it changed....

Back to the salt mines in an hours..............I hate dayshift.........it was so nice to work last Friday when everyone else was off...I could get some work done....

Hope you get your Ultra soon. I can't imagine being off my bike for that long. My bike was in the shop recently for two weeks with an electrical issue and I was going nuts. You have the patience of Job, my friend.

With the CalPers report in today's paper, I may not have a second pension when I bail....the California Public Employees Pension Trust is in a bit over their heads with my money....fortunately, my Sheriff's Pension is not aligned with the major trust....

Just another example of what idiotic politicians and judges can do for you. You're right, Jim. When the SC decreed that the illegals had more rights than we do, a lot of pension funds were put at risk out in Californicate. Even Awnald can't seem to reel in the red paper. At least here, we stayed out of the red and have a solid pension fund. Even Ma Bell is still online with the bucks I am owed. And of course there is that bankrupt Social Security....at least I got one check from them.

I just pulled the rear wheel on the Ultra...rear tire lost 2psi last week riding around town...so the plug and sealant is a very slow leak, but I now notice another "cut" appeared in the meat of the tire near the puncture...so the screw must have been ground into the tire before it punctured...remember it went in head first....

I have another E3, so I want to get this one off and see what it actually did to the tire and the condition of the plug, etc...

The garage had been closed up all day and even with the 18" tornado fan on me, it was a bit warm...good thing it doesn't take long to pull a rear wheel...

Sit here and read for a few, drink my diet Root Beer, then take the tire to the shop...since I am already sweaty, might as well go onto the gym and burn a few calories....

Doc says cut down on the caffeine...so I had to go to Diet Root Beer...now after the trip to the gym, I picked up some tacos and burritos at a good Mexican place and washed them down with a good dark beer...(don't you go to the gym, so you can come home and put those calories back in your system? Like changing summer air to winter air in your tires and I have a good spare tire around the middle....)

Yes Daryl and I am sitting here with another one tonight...just put the rear wheel back on the Ultra...put new rubber on it due to the screw hole...even with that tornado fan running I was soaked(and it is a dry heat...don't know how you folks stay humidity...I die with 15% humidity and 100*)....

Tomorrow is the welcome back breakfast for the Staff...Daryl you remember those dog and pony shows...rah-rah-rah........sheeeeeeeet.......I usually get called out of it well before it is over (thank gawd) by one of the contractors....

Ron, the day of the annual Rah Rah this year, I woke up early with a huge smile on my face....BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE TO BE THERE!!!!!! This retirement thing is pretty neat. All of the heartburn of being a teacher and putting up with the BS that goes with it is missing from my life....as is all of that stress.

Shortly after I typed and finished the beer, the doorbell rang....Probably the best thing I ever did in my career as a Deputy was standing at my front door with his wife and baby....I arrested his mother and put Him and his siblings in Protective Care....he has finished 2 hitches in the Army and is in the Army Guard...He is about to start college in Northern California...

His mother was a drunk/doper..we had many calls about her...that night she broke out a window while holding one of her babies in her arms...that tripped the scale...my partner took her to jail and I took the four kids into Protective Custody...he later reappeared in my life when my youngest daughter was in High School and in JROTC..Jason was also in JROTC...to say the least it was awkward the first time I saw him....he remembered me from that night and greeted me warmly....we have stayed in touch...so tonight as he was leaving town for the next part of his life, he came to see me....and show me his family...

Just got back from going out to dinner with them....so one of those night shifts out of 21 year career actually meant something.............
