Also found out there's a singles club that meets at Chances R in Lubbock the first and third Sunday of every month. . . might find a few dance partners. . . :460:

Out of curiosity, just who invents all the new dances?Depends on what kind of dancing you do. . .partner dancing is more structured and I'm not sure there really are new dances, just different ways of combing the steps. Dancing to rock & roll, however, is a new and original creation every time one dances. :D

168 hours and 46 minutes till house closing. We packed all weekend and are just about ready to start moving. I hate packing, you always pack something away that your going to need before you get there. It doesn't seem that important until you need it. Yes I'm a dumbass.:sterb188:

Mornin all, 55 lovely degrees in the land of Oz this a.m., 77 for a high. Gustav has gone and left us with only clouds and not much rain.

120 hours and 50 minutes to closing, I ran out of boxes last night packing. I started using rubbermaid boxes and ran out of those also. Guess I'm making a trip to wally world for some more empties (boxes that is).:059:

Good morning. Still watching hurricanes but will take some time from that to watch some football at noon. Also noticed that even though Gustav took me off my weight loss and exercise program for a while, I still am losing some weight and made it to 230....that's 13 pounds gone with 10 to go for goal and 20 just because I think I can.

Evening all, yeah I know it's past morning. We've been pretty busy today with the house closing and moving and packing and moving and packing. Gotta do a little remodeling on the kitchen to get the fridge to fit. The opening is just a little narrow, about 4 inches worth. You'd think some guy that's been around construction almost all his life would have measured before ordering a new fridge. Can you say "dumbass", why yes, yes you can.:sterb188:

Hey folks...dry this crap up...I am a Left Coaster...we like sun and more more...last work day for two weeks....bike is serviced...a couple hours to pack and I can be on the road...

Gotta call the Credit Card folks and tell them NOT to Block my card for the next two weeks...in June I had to call them THREE times while on the road to unblock so I could buy gas...but now I have their direct 888 # in my cell phone...I like that they are trying to protect my credit (or is it their bottom line with all the fraud they are paying for....)

In June I had them put my cell phone as the primary contact...and put that I would be MCing the 11 western states...so frequent gas, motels and motorcycle related....the third time they blocked it was after I put a new rear tire on the bike at a HD dealer....when I got them on the phone they questioned the HD parts/service purchase...I had the guy read me the unblock info he had in front of him....Motorcycling Western States, frequent gas stops, Motorcycle related purchases and normal travel expenses....

Asked him if parts/service at a HD dealer didn't sound like a motorcycle related expense??????

Hey...someone ask IKE to go away...........

When you get to Texas, if you come across a sign that says "Watch for Water on the Road" pay attention. They mean it. Even if it's not raining it can take a few days for it to dry up. :Angel_anim:

Ike is headed for Brownsville area which probably means some wet riding in Junction this weekend. We're still on standby for the next few days until there is no chance of the storm doubling back on us here. Of course (and I got in trouble with the gal that was sitting next to me in the war room at the EOC for Gustav) they call them HERacanes not HIM acanes for a reason. They're so unpredictable.

I'm on a rampage here with the community office. A contractor they hired to change water metars let my dogs out yesterday and they had no food, water or AC for 3 hours. Sumbitches even closed the gate behind them. Now one is favoring his right rear hip. I think the MF's kicked him. I'm waiting for a call from the manager.

Late good moring, everyone. Enjoying being on the outer fringes of Ike and watching as the rain bands blow thorugh the area. Texas is in for a nasty time when it finallymakes landfall...some are saying it will be a full blown Cat 4. Not good!

Glad I had Cruise Control problems on the scooter Wednesday morning and called off the trip....I didn't buy the chrome outrigger option on the Ultra...

High, Dry and in mid 90s here...(6.5 inches of rain is more than we get in a whole year.......)

All you east TX folks....Ike is a big fella...hope his strength drops off rapidly as he make landfall...thoughts and prayers with you........

Shouldn't be too bad here. The wind started picking up about 6:15 AM and the heavier bands are about 30 miles SE of here, just now hitting Cameron.

The rain and heavy winds should hit here about 7:00 AM or so.

The coast really got hammered and there are about 1.3 million people without power.

Good afternoon. Had a bit of a problem with the site being filtered at work. Somehow, I got in this afternoon. Glad to hear everyone dodged Ike and no one got hurt or damaged. I have a few friends in town from Lake Jackson who won't see any electricity for a few weeks, but they didn't have any damage. I fear if that surge would have come in as advertised, they'd be singing a different tune. Everyone enjoy what's left of today. It's been a typical Mondy at school today, but it's almost over.

Yes, some of us have worked shift work all our lives...I did 20 years of midnights...I have seen OH-Dark-Thirty from the otherside....I kinda enjoyed being a vampire/mushroom.....

Good Humpity Hump Day morning, everyone. Still can't figure out how ISD missed filtering this site when everything else is cut off, but one learns never to argue with Santa Claus.
Nice 60 degree ride to work. Would have been a lot better and more enjoyable on two wheels. Had a chat with the shyster yesterday. We have to meet inthe next week or so to go ove the medical reports and records from the accident. I hope the nice lady with the SUV is ready. Papers are heading her way before the Christmas break.....damned well better be in court by then.....

Yep, I use to have the filter box in my server rack...but filtering has since been moved to the County Office as a cheaper alternative...I can still get around their filter if I set a box to a particular ip address that avoids their filter...I only do that for extreme cases of needing something and the path is blocked....don't want the back-stabbing individuals to start crap about me having more access than them...

Having said that...if something is blocked and I want access...all I have to do is call a tech at County and he unblocks it for me...again..don't use it very often for the above mentioned back pain....

Daryl...you are counting days..I still have to count years...but mine is less than one hand.........

Mornin all, 55 for a low this a.m. with high around 80. Pretty good weather and no rain for a few days.

Bambi season coming up, I've been tuning up my bow and gettin ready. I'm hoping October will be a little cooler than last year, the temps were way to warm last year. The deer here are putting weight on early this year, looks like we may be in for a cold one for winter. The bucks are still in velvet, they should have scraped that off by now. I'm hoping they keep it awhile longer, we don't get to shoot bucks normally that way.

The scoot is done....new rear tire....and brand new cam chain tensioners..total bill 230.00....love that extended service plan!!!

Afternoon....woke up early....did some shopping and errands on the scoooter...doesn't everyone grocery shop on the bike...can't believe the strange looks I get loading bags of groceries into the saddlebags and tourpak...hey, I did that BEFORE gas hit $4/gal...

Came home, put on a pot of beans...ate lunch and was sucking on a beer with PIP on TV showing Nascar and NFL...damn near fell asleep...decided I better get up and check email and move around or I was going to snap my neck trying to stay awake in the recliner....

Gonna watch the last game at Yankee Stadium tonight...want to see how many old timers show up...

Not a Yankee fan...but I enjoyed the ceremonies and game last night...I am glad the Yankees won the last game to be played in that stadium....

I remember Saturday afternoon TV baseball...almost always the Yankees sponsered by Gillette...those days most players were clean shaven to get ad money....PeeWee Reese and Dizzy Dean were the Broadcasters....Yogi was the catcher....

Damn...now I feel really old...but not as old as at 0300 when my alarm went off so I could be at work by 0400 to change over equipment in a school office...

But that means beer-thirty comes earlier today.............

Dizzy Dean lived in Bond, MS, which is just north of Wiggins and south of Hattiesburg when I was stationed in Biloxi in the 60's. We met him one weekend, and I asked him how it was that he was able to pour a 12 oz Falstaff into a 10 oz cup and have a foam head that went into the stratosphere and never spill a drop on TV. He laughed and said, "Years of practice!" I never could duplicate the feat, but I did take his advice and practice a lot. That pouring of the beer without spilling any as it goes over the top is called passing your Dizzy Dean Test.
BTW, he could keep a crowd of vistors rolling on the ground for hours as he told his stories. Great loss when he died.
