Late Good Morning, all. Less than 2 hours before the official start of my summer vacation. Tomorrow morning is the official "weigh in" for the official beginning of the weight loss/get in shape campaign. Also the probable end of beer drinking for a few weeks except if Noodles shows up (he called last night from Hattiesburg).

Good (I don't have to go to work today) morning. Just discovered that it would be easier to go to work as I stepped off the scales and found out that my little weight loss project is going to be a bit harder...all that last few days of eating out with the staff hurt. I learned this secret from a good friend of mine. . . I have coffee in the morning and bring 2 or 3 pieces of fruit to work with me. I eat them sometime before lunch. Lunch I try to stay away from fried or high fat foods. Another piece of fruit in the afternoon and then dinner, which I cook at home. Chicken, fish, pork or beef with lots of veggies. I do have dessert from time to time. I love my sweets! I've lost about 20 pounds since November with little or no effort.

I am on a steady diet of black Cajun coffee right now (after a small bowl of unsweetened cereal this AM. Am done with the AM workout including a mile treadmill hike at 3+ mph uphill. My dinner plans are about as you mention. Remember last year I was losing weight like crazy until the crash. The lack of exercise really did me in, and now it is a matter of getting back in shape and cranking up the metabolism. At 61, that is a bit of a challenge, but it is going to happen.

Most of the mutts that get dropped off here are just that...unmanageble mutts, but this one appears to be housebroken, fixed, and needing a place to crash. Kim, I think I sweated off another couple of pounds just cleaning out a shed this AM. As for Rover, well as it turns out a family down the road has been searching frantically for her. Seems their grandaughter is on her way to join the Army and brought the dog down (in THE TRUNK OF HER CAR) all the way from NC. The dog freaked and took off ending on my doorstep. I tracked them down late this AM. Probably better right now, but if the dog shows up again, she stays.

Kenny, Kathy has been a physical therapist for 25 years, though I swear she must have started when she was 5. She is kind of straight laced and a bit of a mother hen. She knows I have been riding, but hasn't liked it. Monday, I had not informed the transportation company of my schedule for the week so I had to ride to therapy. My time was with Coran a feisty 4'10" ball of fire who seems to understand why I must ride. I told Caran that the bike was outside. Kathy was with another patient 10 feet away and heard what was going on as I said loudly, "But don't tell Kathy". Kathy just frowned a bit and everyone but her got a bit of a laugh, including patients that are about all in on the joke.
You're right, she just can't understand until she's spent time aboard a Harley Davidson.

I have Auto Club for 30 years now SO I do NOT have to deal with DMV...now Kaliforny steals your money online...the last couple years I take the trucks to a smog station, they pass, the smog info is elelctronically sent to DMV and clears the reg, then I go home and pay with my pound of flesh to the Great Gods in Sacramento online....

DMV and IRS rate at about the same level for me.....

kd5cqt
06-05-2008, 10:20 AM
We don't have the smog stations, but the PIA of license tag renewal is still a major ordeal. And if you have trailers or other vehicles, count on the notices to come staggered so you have to make numerous trips to the tax office and stand in line repeatedly throughout the year only to have the idoit there tell you you're missing somehting important and have to come back. And BTW, your property tax notices are paid at the same place. Another line to stand in. I get to do this 5 times a year. Ain't government wonderful?

Kaliforny doesn't want to see our ugly faces, just our $$$$ so most can be done by mail or internet...we even renew D/L by mail or internet...after 12 years I finally had to go in to have a new photo taken...damn I changed and got ugly in 12 years...yes, DMV folks are rude and a PIA...hell, I may be dead before I have to get another pic taken....just send $$$ every four years for a renewal...

Property taxes and yes, boats, trailers, etc get taxed by Tax Office and DMV registration tax.......even business equipment gets taxed by the local tax collectors office but it is separate from DMV...but again just mail us your $$$ we dont't want to see or talk to you...BIG SIGNS in many offices as you walk in..."You Know You Can Do Most Things by Mail or WWW.dont-give-a-sh*t.gov" Left Coast is so grand......

Hey all. Beautiful here, high of 90*. Got a nice ride in before work. Me and the sup. had it out last night. I've made a couple of calls to the main office in the last few days. She is un -*******believeable! I have done everything I know of to keep the peace, believe me I was forewarned. But, I had great respect for her and her work, and thought I could handle it. I was wrong again. How do I get myself into these tight spots? I swear, trouble really does find me wherever I go. Have a good one! Keep it up, kd5cqt! You can do this!

ErnieS

In Florida, drivers' licenses are handled by the state, but registrations are done at private companies that get a fee for processing, or on line. There are a lot of them and they are relatively efficient because they need to be in order to remain in business. Licenses can be renewed online too but when you need a new picture, you have to go to an MVD branch. Some are perpetually busy and understaffed. I swear that at any given time, 60% of the employees are on break. What I have found, is mobile branch offices. Yup! They have Winnebagos that take up position in shopping center parking lots 1 or 2 days a week and process licenses. There's one a few miles from here, open on Thursdays that I can be in and out of in 10 minutes.

It's only forecast for 101*...but it IS a dry heat...........sheeeeeeeet....

Fortunately, I am still on vacation....but the wife has an abcessed(sp) tooth and she is an old bear today....hopefully the infection will be down and the tooth can be repaired or extracted on Thursday...may be a LONG week....

I went for that test this morning.... It's called a Ceretec Scan. They draw about a quart of blood and then separate the white blood cells and treat them with a radioactive dye. Then they reinject the white cells and 4 hours later do a bone scan. Well, I got through the blood drawing OK then I get a call saying that they can't separate the white cells, I'm a bit dehydrated so I have to drink 50 gallons of water and reschedule the test.
2 months today since I went into the hospital! I want this over....NOW.

Mornin all, hot and humid is on tap today with t-storms brewing for this afternoon. Okay, I'm sending rain to central Texas. That's probably enough rain to keep Kansas wet for 10 years.:HaHaHa:

Ernie, hang in there, it'll be over in no time.

Good thundery morning from the Gulf Coast. It looks and sounds like rain is coming, but that's all it did yesterday. Spent the day plyaing indoors with my radios and managed to toast $3K worth of equipment. Just ordered a new rig that I was dreaming about anyway. They have just about doubled since I bought my last one. Everyone have a great day!

Mornin' y'all. . .we've had little intense storms pop up over Seminole just about every night this week. I got stuck in LaMesa Wednesday night because the dang storm just wouldn't move.

Planning on a run to Abilene and then Nolanville tomorrow. I'm test riding the route for my charity ride in September.

Hope y'all have a good weekend! :Angel_anim:

Mornin all, a nice day in Dorothy's land today. High around 85, sunny and not to windy.

Sorry to hear your running down parts Ernie, throttle cables shouldn't be to hard to come by with all the different bike parts store in your area. A phone call or two and you should be good to go.

Hi JR, good to see ya.
