Mornin all, we had rain, wind, and hail here yesterday. Good thing the hail was the soft kind, some of it was the size of quarters. No hail dents in the vehicles at least, whew!!

It frosted here this morning with temps in the thirties. Highs today around 60, we'll see??

Happy Birthday one day late Tonya. Glad to hear you had a good one and got home safe and sound.. See ya Thursday.

Got home last night from my run to the Laughlin Rally..back to work..crapola...

Bike has a transmission leak...thought it was the tranny so I put Redline in the tranny before the trip...going over I didn't see anything but riding hard coming home I found red stuff on the Rivco Centerstand when I got home...so it goes to the Dealer when I can get it in...fortunately I have the extended warranty..I think it is the seal for the shifter (that one down deep behind the primary...)...glad it will be the dealer pulling the primary...

Those going to the Junction...ride safe and have toooo much fun....

Ernie, I want a report on this new Dr. Let us know how you like him. Mike is out working on the bikes. He has a habit of waiting for the build up and then having days of work to do on them. We have new brakes to put on, mine has a new clutch cable to put on, still need the new regulator, and there is a bunch of other stuff on the list to get taken care of. Rain came in this morning, left, and now appears to be headed in again. Maybe it will come in early tonight and be done with by the morning hours. That would be great! Ride safe, all.

The new doc is cool. He rides and when I showed up wearing my vest, he reached in his desk draw and showed me his pin from thee '07 toy run, an exact duplicate of the one on my vest. I saw him after a painful hour with the wound therapist and he was able to remove some more dead tissue that I wouldn't let the therapist touch. He used tweezers and a scalple and managed it with zero pain..I've progressed from 80% to 90% chance of keeping my index finger and he is hoping that he can get me back in the hospital for a skin graft in 2 weeks. 2 or 3 weeks after that, he says I might be able to start the mental therapy. He is prescribing riding for that. I've gotten some exercises for the hand and am getting movement back, even some in the first joint of the index finger. I'm encouraged!

Total mileage for the trip was 1989.3 miles, I missed my prediction by 11 miles. By the time we got home, riding around the block that much just wasn't in the cards.:HaHaHa:

We had a nice tail wind our last day riding home and managed to boost the gas mileage on the springer to 50 miles per gallon. woo hoo The only problem we had was Kay and her pulled muscle, but I called her last night and it was better after she had been off the bike for awhile. She wanted me to ask if any of you ladies that ride two up have experienced just one leg going numb after an extended time in the saddle. (no smart ass remarks please) We've adjusted the foot rests and are about at wits end trying to figure out how to fix the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Too long in the saddle between breaks.

That and an interesting phenomenon results from inactivity. I found that having an extra pair of pegs on the front of my bike allowed me to move my legs into different positions periodically when I had a similar problem on the Low Rider. That cured my problem.

That and buying a new Ultra.

Kenny,
First, I'd make sure her pockets are empty. And then maybe a chiropractor could offer more advice. I find that I can do 450 or 500 miles if I walk around for 10 minutes at gas stops. After that, I need 45 minutes or an hour off the bike before I can get comfortable again, Chiropractor visits keep the legs and butt from going numb but haven't helped with my hands yet.

Thanks Ernie, her pockets are empty. She has found that carrying things in a fanny pack helps as long as she wears it on her side. She can shift the weight to one side or the other. I had never thought of her back being the problem. She is small in stature with short legs and the foot rest adjustment is my only option.

Darryll, I don't really know about adjusting the back rest but I am going to try a different seat. I'm thinking about the stock one rather than the wider Heritage seat that is on there. Thanks.

I don't think it matters whether you're on the front or the back. I sometimes experience numbness or mild leg cramps from sitting in one position too long on the bike. I don't have highway pegs on mine and I agree with Dinero, changing the position of the leg, being able to stretch your leg out straight, is extremely beneficial. I also agree that more frequent breaks may help. SpecialK is not a complainer, and may not be letting you know when she needs a stretch break. I hope she gets to feeling better soon. Send her my love, will you sir? :Angel_anim:

Thanks Tonya, I will. No, she doesn't complain much because she has so much fun riding. We tried a few adjustments as we rode home Tuesday afternoon and some seemed to help better than others. The foot rests I have are from Custom Chrome I think and they are infinitely adjustable so I should be able to find a comfortable spot for her and I'm thinking of modifying them to give her an extra peg to stretch out too.

Oh, sorry about the thread jack.

I tried to but got called back to work...dang....I need to turn off my phone before my boss does...so I worked 9 hours...let's rephrase that...I was on the clock for 9 hours....

Boss got out and turned his phone off before I could get out of town...so back to work I went.....

Got the pool cleaned and about half full yesterday. It should be ready to swim in tomorrow. Just in time for the 90° weather.

Just so y'all can sleep tonight-----

I didn't cut anything off.

I got home about 5:00 PM and Patty was just geting out of the pool. It somehow didn't seem fair. I may have to get into the pool this evening.

The bad ones are up near Daytona, about 200 miles north but we have our share of smaller fires here. Yesterday while I was out riding, I saw that they had shut down the southbound Sawgrass Expressway due to a fire that burned right up to the canal along the edge. The road opened back up about first light this morning.

"A wildfire in the Everglades will produce a smoke plume that will move across parts of metro and inland Miami-Dade and Broward counties through early this morning, reducing visibility into the 2- to 4- mile range in some areas," the National Weather Service said.
Visibility in some parts of Broward County could be as low a quarter-mile, the weather service said.

Got the big bad booger wired this morning and not only did it work, but my lab partner and I were the first ones to get it finished. We ran into a little trouble when someone swiped our optioned D4 channel card. . .took us an hour of trouble shooting to figure out what the heck happened! At 3pm today we started our final circuit. . .I managed to get one of the weakest lab partners in the class. . . sheesh! I'm really ready for this to be over!

Use those medical exam gloves to cover the bandage...I double glove out of habit dealing with blood and that keeps thiings pretty safe and dry. Showing up with an exam glove might keep the other guests with their backs to the wall!:123:

I actually tried that. The bandage is still too damned big to get a "large" over my "medium" hand.
We ended up taking the car. Terry and I wanted to ride but the afternoon got crazy fast.
2 of our friends were running down the street a couple miles from here and Omar's tires weren't up to snuff for his lack of experience and wet roads. Some barely aware octogenarian pulled out in front of them and Omar locked up the rear. He got broadside and mashed the old mans Mustang. Terry headed over to pick up the bike and met Sam, Hope and I at the party later.
Omar's going to make it. Besides some road rash, he got a compound fracture to his lower left leg. He lost a lot of blood until Tulio could find a pressure point to clamp off the artery.
In retrospect, it's a good thing we took the cages. We got 2.5" of rain in the 4 hours we were out.

73 here this AM headed for a nice cool 83. 20% chance of rain with winds off the water at 20-30 MPH with some gusts to 50. The winds were like that yesterday only out of the NE. We headed out to the edge of civilization to the ABATE bash. We got in 80 miles round trip. The hand came through it OK, cramped up a couple times, but all in all, I'm pretty happy. After all, 2 up with 50 MPH cross winds is tough when I'm 100%, or maybe I should say, when I was 100%

Mornin everyone, rain and flooding here in the heartland. We've had rain the last four days and a lot of it severe. 11 tornados Friday night, cleared off enough Saturday morning to allow me to get the front tire on the springer and get a hundred or so miles to make sure it was balanced properly. Then the rains came and put me in the garage.

Took my Dad fishing Sunday for a little bit, had a birthday party for my youngest Grand kid that afternoon (1 year old), then partied Sunday night until the rains came again. Monday was filled with thunderstorms and more rain and tornados here. Not sure how many this time, the weather folks are compiling the information. I'm sure they'll probably get it wrong too.:screwy:

Rain and thunderstorms again this morning, we may get a nice day tomorrow. I'm keeping my toes and fingers crossed.:114:
