Mornin all, at least it's dry here in the land of Oz. The trees have a nice quarter of an inch of ice on them. If the sun comes out today, I need to get some pics of the all the sparkle. The ice storm got a bunch of the surrounding areas and there are a lot of limbs and power lines down.:wtf: I talked to my brother yesterday, who lives about 25 miles from me and his mini van was totaled when a huge elm limb fell on it. The only piece of glass that was intact was in the back door. Ouch!!

My GF cannot get her car outa the garage because of limbs in the driveway and she lost power on one leg of her incoming line because of ice and limbs as well.
I'm sure she will be without some of her power for a couple of days, as soon as the power company can repair her meter box and get it hooked up.

Glad to hear you escaped the really bad part of that storm, Kenny. I had been hearing about it on the news and was thinking about you. I guess it is cage time for a few days up there with all of that ice. Lots of fog on the Coast but nice and warmish so far. Yesterday ended up all of the 2007 Christmas Parades for us and I had to ride home in the rain. I'm glad it's over for this year because I've worked the last three (3) Saturdays. Good morning! Big storms rolled through from 3-5am. Weather radio radio blasted us awake over and over. It's been in the 80's for a week and tonight it is supposed to drop to 36. Got all the present wrapping done yesterday and picked up the last of the stocking stuffers. Today - we are making homemade dog biscuits since we have 5 dogs in the family who expect gifts too!

5 inches of white covering our area in Kansas, roads are not bad but icy in spots but drivable. Temp is down to 9 degrees this mornin and highs are supposed to reach around 48 by Thursday with more rain and snow by Friday. Old snow should be melted by then just to make room for some more. I haven't been able to get on HDB.com from work after we redid the access blocking software...but the kiddies found some new software to get around it...trying out some of that this morning...now we have to go back and rework the blocking stuff...damn kids....

You can't stay ahead of them....just wish they would spend as much time learning math and reading as they do screwing up...just like crooks..if they spent that energy towards gainful employment, look at the wonderful world we might have...

I got the driveway and yard cleaned up and just got home from the dump. It was a little windy here today and now the yard is again covered with (the neighbor's) leaves. Maybe I'll just mulch them up good and leave them there for now.

Well, all this past wseek we've been worrying about a "Hot Christmas". This AM took care of that problem with low 20's registering on the thermometers outside. Nice wind blowing to punctuate that cold, too. Sitting here with a nice, hot cup of coffee courtesy of one of my students and getting ready for tonight at Mom's. Just got a call from Billy the Banker whose wife is under the weather these past few days and was supposed to cook tomorrow's feast....looks like I gets to be guest chef; so in addition to getting up before the rooster to play Santa for the neighbor's (my garage is Sant's workshop right now), I'll be heading overfto a strange kitchen early in the AM. Mornin all, I had a great Christmas with family and friends. Weather did not cooperate for any riding when I had time, we were on the run almost constantly.

Yesterday AM brought some nasty weather. I discovered last night that the winds ripped the storm door off of one of my rentals, and the rains came through the cracks around the door and ruined the carpet. Now I get to spend today fixing that instead of drinking Jim's beer. Did you know that these doors besides not being of standard size do not exist normally in the size I need it to be, and of course there are the 10,753 screws that hold it on the frame. Such fun and more thundernasties on the way. Back to work!

Got one of those "quick install" doors, huh? Yup I have some experience working on mobil homes. Once you get all those screws out, you then have tocut through the caulk seal, then straighten out all the tin before setting the new door. Then you might find you need to jack and shim up the frame of the building to get the door to swing right.

Yesterday was great, 28 degrees for my first ride of the year. Got in about 30 miles before I decided I was a little crazy gettin the bike out.
