Front page news down here, and probably nowhere else:
FEMA has decided that the people (close to a thousand) still living in FEMA mansions (metal boxes on wheels @ $25K a pop) that have a problem with formaldehyde excess fumes (all of them) are being placed in hotels (at top buckos) with 3 catered meals a day. My brother, the local Civil Defense Director who has to deal with the FEMA mental giants, complained that he has to eat a sandwich from home for Friday lunch while these unelmployed bums get "Steak Friday".
Very damned few of these people are employed, want to be employed, can be forced to be employed, and are accustomed to living for free out of our wallets. Their principle excuse for not moving into now available houseing is that they can't come up with the deposit (usually a month's rent in advance plus the current month). Now here we have these slugs living rent free for nearly 3 years and they haven't taken it upon themselves to save this money?Employers complain that we have so many illegal Mexicans down here because no one will acccept the employment (we are lowest % unemployment in Mississippi down here) that is everywhere. They are begging for workers and these FEMA freeloaders open the door only long enough to flip us the finger. BTW, most of these creeps, in addition to all of the aforementioned bennies also collect such things as welfare, food stamps, AFDC checks, and more. When I hear them cry on the news about how tough they have it, I want to BARF

I don't mind offering anyone a helping hand when they hit bottom, but when it becomes a way of life, when people start believing I owe it to them, that's when I start having problems with it. Get out and get a job!

Some of these are actually ex-students of ours who got knocked up before graduation just to collect the checks for the kids. I am of the philosophy that evereyone has the God given right to live under any available bridge or overpass not already occupied and also have that same right to eat out of the finest dumpsters in town. I don't feel it is proper (and wonder about the actual legalities) of the working people being forced to put up with these sponges.

Speaking of...I think any children that are born more than nine months after a person starts drawing welfare should be their responsibility. In other words, they don't sit there and collect more of my money with every child they bear. Some of these people have made welfare a way of life. That should never be. Our system was developed to assist those in emergencies such as layoffs, disabilities, etc... Not as a way to get a lifetime paycheck and raise their families.
