Phone calls, prayers and words of encouragement from my true friends here at HDB went a long way towards my recovery and have made me laugh once or twice in spite of my getting pretty depressed at times.
Although I've only shaken the hand of a few of you, I consider all of you true friends.
I wanted to come up with some flowery words to define friendship and impress you all with my literary acumen, but try as I might, I couldn't come up with anything better than this:

TO MY TRUE FRIENDS, I PLEDGE"

1. When you are sad -- I will jump on the person who made you sad
like a spider monkey jacked up on Mountain Dew.

2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile -- I will know you are plotting something that I must be involved in.

4. When you are scared -- I will rag on you about it every chance I get.

5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much Worse it could be until you quit whining.

6. When you are confused -- I will use little words.

7. When you are sick -- Stay away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever the hell you have.

8. When you fall -- I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass...and then help you up.

Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it,
But only you can feel the true warmth..

A good friend will come bail you out at 3 AM, but a true friend will be sharing the cell.

Any time, Ernie. Those words pretty well say it all.

Gonna try that myself tonight Jim. It's Bike Night at Bonefish Creek. Besides, the satellite converter crapped out on me and it will be 2 days before the FedEx man brings the replacement.

And the best part of it is that no matter how bad things get, I know that you will also be there for me in my time of need as you have already been many times. That is a true friend. Real friendship is unconditional.

That's what friends do.
