Phil Peterson's South Harley Davidson is celebrating their 30th anniversary this weekend. At 9AM Sam and I will meet up with Terry and Hope and head for our ABATE meeting and then meet up with another half dozen bikes and head for Peterson's South. It's about 60 miles down the road, some 20 south of downtown Miami. Aside from the usual vendors and stuff, there will be some fool jumping a Sportie over 10 F 150's.
Phil Peterson has been selling bikes in South Florida since '59. starting in Key West. Now he has 2 shops in Miami and still rides.

I forgot the camera, but Hope had her cam corder and shot the jump. As soon as she transfers it to the computer, I'll post it. The guy did the jump on an XR-750, but rode a couple Beulls, a V-Rod and a Dyna. He got them all standing high enough to scrape the rear fenders on the road. From what he says, his is the only V-Rod that does exhibition wheelies. He also has an Ultra that does wheel stands too, but he didn't fire that one up.
I got to spend a few minutes talking to Phil. He's like the Pope of motorcycling in South Florida. You feel like you should kiss his ring when you meet him. He raced hillclimb and flat track in the 40's and 50's and at 83 is still sharp as a tack and rides his RoadKing.
We got in about 120 miles on a gorgeous day!
