View Full Version : Why drinking the Rush Limbaugh Kool-Aid is a proven recipe to put a Clinton in the Wh

I first heard Rush Limbaugh on the radio in the late 1980's. I remember thinking, "This is good for getting the conservative message out." Up till then, there wasn't a media vehicle available to give conservatism a national voice. You certainly couldn't count on anything that was coming from the networks or most of the print media.
In 1992 President George H.W. Bush was running for re-election. He was opposed in the primaries by Pat Buchanan. Rush immediately took up the Buchanan banner. Each day he proclaimed the virtues of Pat Buchanan and vilified the sitting President. Railing on President Bush as a blight on conservatism and by implication painting him with the broad brush of liberalism. Pat Buchanan would be the savior of the party and brings us back to the ideals of Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater from which Bush had intentionally drifted. And of course, he had. He was a moderate.
Naturally, Buchanan didn't get the nomination over the sitting president. Although farther to the right than the president, Pat was never really electable. Anyone with any sense knew that.
After it was apparent that the President would be the candidate, Rush suddenly began to extol the virtues of the president. He was the greatest thing since sliced bread and a bastion of conservatism against the Arkansas governor, Bill Clinton. It was a complete turn around, a 180 from his previous position when Buchanan was still a candidate.
The results,..many of the now disillusioned republicans cast their votes for the unproven and untried Ross Perot in the general election. Votes, that most would have gone to President Bush, had the national radio voice of the conservatives not soured the base.
Because there are more registered democrats than registered republicans in the country, it takes independent and crossover democratic votes to elect a republican to the office of president. Rush must bear much of the responsibility for splitting that vote. Bill Clinton won with 43% of the vote to President Bush's 37% and Ross Perot's 18%.
Now, Rush is doing the same thing. He is daily railing on John McCain as a liberal. McCain is simply a moderate, no different than George H.W. Bush was. Rush implies that there would be no difference between McCain and Clinton or Obama. That, is simply a lie. And when the candidates are confirmed, you'll see him, as well as Sean Hannity, begin to proclaim McCain's virtues.
Both Clinton and Obama have a proven socialist agenda. They are both pro-abortion, anti-gun with a Federalist view of government.
McCain is not my first or even second choice for president. But neither was George H.W Bush, or Bob Dole for that matter. I'm not even a republican anymore, but an independent..But if you think there is no difference between McCain and the democrats..you've drunk the Kool-Aid.

I was listening to the local radio on the way home and some political sci. prof at the University of New Orleans or Tulane said it would be McCain vs Hillary with The Wicked Witch of the West winning eventually. Just hearing that announcement, speculative as it is, sends chills of fear and doom up and down my spine. Let's hope and pray that this guy was dead wrong about the ultimate victor.

The fickle voter!!!
Eight years ago when McCain was 8 years younger, he was no damn good against GWB. Now 8 years later and 8 years older, he's the best thing they got!
Same thing with the Demo's. Back in 1988 when Dukakis was the best thing since sliced bread, they booed Bill Clinton off the convention stage when his speech went on for over an hour. Four years later, he was the second coming of JC and they couldn't get enough of him.
The fact of the matter is that if what we have left, Hillary, Obama, McCain and Huckaby are the BEST we got, no matter who wins...we are all in DEEP SH-T!
For some reason America always wants change and always puts the same pile of crap back in office year after year and then puts the same pile of crap in the big seat.
INCREDIBLE!

Unfortunately, "none of the above" equals not voting for the person who most closely shares your views. John McCain is sure as hell not my first choice, not even my 4th choice, but I think he might just be able to beat hillary.
The last few days, Obama has been claiming that the Republicans have a truck load of dirt on Ms. clinton (just can't bring myself to capitalise that name) ready to dump on her in the general election. With any luck he's right. It's either that or she'll self destruct in the Presidential debates, or bill will F up and get caught sleeping with Michelle Obama.
Now John McCain is 3 steps left of George HW Bush, but still 10 steps right of hillary and a 1/4 mile right of Obama. He scares me the least of all my choices.

Well, I will probably vote Democrat for the first time in my life during the Wis. primary. I hate to do it - will probably take an hour-long shower after as well. My theory is that Hillary is probaly more beatable in the general than Obama. So, my vote goes to the hosebag in the primary, then to the lesser-of-two-evils in the general.
Lord help me.

Obama thinks the Republican Party has a truckload of crap to dump on the Wicked Bitch of the West, but if he manages to pull off the big coup, I wonder if he has considered how much they have loaded to dump on him. Just that Muslim parentage and the Mahabi schooling ought to be enough to make us forget the Swift Boat Ads.

Well, I have a different view that is brewing in some corniers of the conservative mind.
1.If we hold our nose and vote McCain in, we get 4 years of McCain style liberalism, open borders, tax hikes, and worse, we will get to choose between him and his VP for the next 4 years. That is a terrible thought.
2. Or we let nature take it's course, concede theWhite house and revamp the party for a much better "newer" candidate in 2012.
Two years of Hilary will most likely get the House back into republican control and maybe even the senate, to control the final 2 years of Hilary and quite possibly a Republican sweep in 2012.
George Bush and the republican party have acted terribly the last 3 years and deserve a vacation, I for one cannot support my local liberal republican congressman and want him replaced. ( If I wanted a liberal, I would have voted for one from the Democratic party, but I got a liberal republican career politician instead)
( I just cannot get those pictures of McCain and Tom Daschle have dinner at McCain's house, or Teddy Kennedy gushing McCain's virtues out of my head to vote for the guy.)

There's a rumor floating around that if Hillary wins the nomination, Mike Bloomburg has $1,000,000,000 ready to bankroll Obama as a 3rd party candidate with him as veep.
Pray for HRC to win. This would essentially assure a McCain victory in November and if we could just give him an injection on Reagan genes, we might just come out alright.

That's the insinuation from the Kool-Aid camp...problem is, you give Obama or Hillary 4 years, then you're stuck with 40 years of liberal judges that they'd appoint and unchecked legislation that may never be overturned.
Bad strategy..just plain bad. Don't drink that either.

Yeah, Gray, good point. Just look at Ruth Bader Ginsberg...who got to be a judge at Hillary's insistence, you can be sure. One or two more like her and it wouldn't be pretty. (no reference to the fact that all of them are fugly broads).
