Just had the crap scared out of me....I have dodged a lot of things...4x8 sheets of plywood from back of pickups being one of the scariest...
Just topped it (pun intended)....interchange for two freeways...a POS Firebird comes blasting (75mph) by me...two lanes, no shoulder...pulls in front of me and his driver side glass t-top pops off into the air and starts spinning back towards me...I grabbed all the brakes I had short of sliding the tires and watch it hit in front of my bike and shatter into millions of bits of glass...I went through the glass cloud and thought I had been shot with birdshot....hurt like hell...
I was on the Hammer so no fairing or lowers...and I was wearing an Armored jacket...
My legs still sting after 30 minutes from the impact...
Biggest thing...I had on a fullface helmet with the visor down....otherwise my eyes and face would be toast...yes, the t-top is safety glass but at that speed, it will still cut and blind...
Moral to the story...wear eye protection...I know alot of you hate helmets and goggles....but at least wear strong and safe eye protection even if you live in a helmet free state...
