Just decided 9mm was too light these days so got these guys at a steal. The all black is a Ruger P245 and the other is a 1911 knockoff by Rock Island Armory. Couldn't pass up the asking price....both new out of the box under $350 each.

love my 1911, but bought a mini-glock last year for times when the 1911 might cause a bulge...The Ruger is really slim, and that's one of its redeeming qualities...very small bulge. Had it in NO last night. The holster I had wasn't perfect, so I got me one that makes it virtually invisible on me now.

Yeah, I've figured that is one of the better parts ofgetting old(er). I needed a couple of new toys until I can get that big, 2 wheeled one.

I had the opportunity last year to pick up a Utah permit. Good in almost all of the states except New York and Californicate. (also W. VA and Oregon). Between that and my S.O. ID, I am pretty much OK mopst places.

Oh, and it's only 50 bucks for 5 years. Hitch is you have to get approved by a certified Utah firearms instructor which meant I had to go to Birmingham. Spent the day wasting a brick of 9mm. Lots of fun on the range.

Tailgunner has a 9. I have a .380 and a .38 wheel gun.
So you are outgunned again by the Tailgunner.....???????? I'd just as soon throw a rock as carry a 380....(*now I have gone and pi$$ed off the small caliber folks...but reloading taught me a lot about ballastics..and I sold my 380 shortly after working up loads....)

Nice pair there, Darryl! Been thinking about a new carry gun myself. If I could find a small enough .40 or .45 I'd be all over it.

GLOCK 36 Slim & powerful...Six rounds of .45 AUTO. . ... in a package that fits into the hands of any user. With the new GLOCK SLIMLINE™ we present grip ergonomics of the next dimension. By using a single-stack magazine, the GLOCK 36 measures only 28.5mm/1.13 in. in width. Together with the secure-grip design, this makes handling the pistol very easy.

This is what I bought for my compact carry...I even qualified with it last month for my hr218 card....

I am not a dyed in the wool Glock person..I prefer my Colt 1911...but sometimes you have to carry tupperware...

Yeah, I've got a good 1911 and love it, it's just too big for practical carry.

Practical carry is the gun you have when you need it to take out a critter that also needs it.

I have an Arizona permit, good pretty much wherever the Utah is accepted. Also, because I'm just across the river from Laughlin Nv. I got the Clark County endorsement. Still a potential felon in California, almost impossible to get a permit here. Carry a Keltec .380. Most 9mm are a bit 'bulgy'. The Keltec is very concealable.

The Keltec .32 has the advantage of having an extended clip available. The
.380 does not. What do you do with your little finger, or did you find an extender for it?

I am looking at a S&W Model 60 357 in a 3inch barrell. We have been hitting the range
in Memphis 1 or 2 times a week.

I just sent in for my Fl. CWP and I like those two pistols you are showing us there kd5cqt.
I have an old P-38 9mm that works great and many others to come later. Personally I'm more into all metal guns not plastic or alloys.

A 357 in a 3" barrel would work for one shot but rapid fire is not going to be easy to keep in the kill zone by no means. To much movement between shots I think personally. A 9mm with the right ammo and clip will give you good accurante stopping power and if not go to a 40cal. but anything over that becomes unstable at rapid fire times personally.

I have a Ruger Blackhawk .357 with a six inch barrel. Not a good rapid fire weapon, but with that long snout, it's like having a hand-held rifle. For rapid fire, the autos work just fine. Might not hit anything in rapid mode, but it'll sure scare hell out of whoever is being shot at.

I understand that, I just would want to totally put down whom ever forced me to use deadly force to begin with. Other wise that person may still kill me.

That being the case, take that extra half second to get a decent sight picture and squeeze. The brother sideways sighting system is not too reliable as I see it.

I ended up with the Ruger Sp101 357. Very nice revolver.

Yep sure is. Stainless steel gray finish. Takes mag.'s all day long and concealable too.

Well it finially arrived. My Fl. CWpermit. So now how do I conceal a P-38? Not well I'm afraid so I need to look over the collection to find a good one to carry. 1911 .45's? Hmm.
Maybe one of the the Browning P-35HP's in 9mm?

The 1911 in a decent shoulder rig and a baggy vest works pretty good for me. Been wearing that combo for a long time and never had a problem. Also same vest with the Ruger and a pancake holster ain't a bad thingee either.

Hmm, Florida+ baggy vest= heat stroke. I think the Browning Hp is small enough to be a good inside waist line holster pistol with a light long over shirt on. The 1911 I could wear in the winter like that I guess.

Hell I don't know how things will work till I just try them out.
