Went to Big Bend with a buddy that hangs on another board. The place is awesome! The roads seem like they were made for bikes, and the scenery is like something right out of a Road Runner cartoon! All in all 2025 miles in 5 days. Here are some pics from the trip.

Nice pics Dan, glad you could take a few for us. That sure is beautiful scenery down there, looks like I'm going to have to take a road trip one of these days and look it over.

I wish I could have made it. When I hit the state line Tahursday afternoon and saw the mile marker that said 880, I knew I wasn't up to it.

You noticed the bags on the deuce, eh? He bought them on ebay and put them on the Tuesday before we left. He is going to have them painted to match the bike. Now I think he wants bigger bags...like a Road King.

I really love the desert landscape. It was so beautiful out there, I want to make it a yearly thing. So, those of you that want to go, let's start planning now. The NPS campsites are clean and well maintained, but I may want to stay at a differnet one next time. We stayed at the only one with showers, but it was HOT (102). There was another one 5,000 feet up in the basin that was 20 degrees cooler. That makes for some chilly sleeping, but that's what a sleeping bag is for, right?

The wildlife is interesting, too. We had our campsite invaded by a javelina, who stole a box of granola bars out of our food bin. Of course, the food bins are there to keep your food safe, but we had just returned from a ride and were sitting 5 feet from the bin. :wtf: The :curseout: pig wasn't afraid of us at all. We finally had to run him off by throwing stones and sticks at him. Sparky and I take our food seriously, and that :curseout: pig is lucky he didn't wind up on our grill!

No way I'd ever eat Javalina. Dang things stink when they are alive and stink even worse dead. Stay away from armadillo too.
