Went to the surgeon this morning and I am now able to “ditch” the crutches. I think I’ll look for a cool cane until I get some strength back in my ankle and foot. I still have to wear the boot for at least another 4 weeks while walking. Next week I will probably start physical therapy to start working on my ankle and getting it back into shape.
Things are looking good!

Hey, do everything the physical terrorist tells you to. They know their stuff. I had a great one when I broke my shoulder, but she has since moved to Plano.

Things are looking good!My girlfriend carved a really cool cane for me when I became a grandmother. . .I put it to good use when walking with the boot and even when I was able to walk without the boot it was great for that extra balance. It was also great for protecting and blocking when in a large crowd of booted individuals. . .

Kenny :polar:My advice is wear a shoe or boot with a thick sole so it brings your good foot to the same level as your cast/boot. Sure does make it easier on your back.

Started using my homemade cane today! Finally free of the crutches!! I put 'em in the closet and hope to keep them there. Soon as I get 'roundtoit I'll take a couple of pics of the yucca cane and post 'em. I'm kinda proud of it.

That's what the boss lady tells me anyway. Although I do kind of scare her sometimes. Last night I hauled the 8' ladder into the house and changed the filters for the A/C. She seemed a bit upset about that one :D

I can see why that might cause her just a touch of distress. . .:)

Greg, I still have my cane, but I find myself using it less and less. Once you shed the boot, things will go pretty fast for you, I suspect. Sounds like you are making gret progress towards normal walking again. I am awaiting the first really cold, damp morning as my acid test for my ankle.

I do believe that would be cowgirl up. . .
Once upon a time there was this cowboy and this cowgirl in a cabin on the side of a mountain in Utah.
Now you figure the rest out....................
