A little while back I went on a ride to experience US129 "The Dragon's Tail" near Robbinsville N.C. On the way home I rode the Blue Ridge Parkway from Ashville N.C. to the Virginia state line.
Over a 5 day weekend I rode about 1500 miles on the Sporty. She ran hard and no problems what so ever.

I stayed at the Phillips Motel 50ft from 129. The rooms were great, rates were exceptional, the owner Reba, couldn't have been nicer. I highly Recommend staying there if you can.

There were an endless number of signs just like this one in the area.

The tree of shame. Decorated with the parts of dumped bikes.

14 of us converged on Robbinsville and experienced the twistiest roads I have ever been on.

From the Dragon to the Cherohala Skyway we rode about 150 miles in a circuit that took you back to Robbinsville.

I couldn't live in this area because I would never make it to work on sunny days. I would be riding these roads all the time.

I rode the BRP for about 200 miles or so on the way home and the super light traffic, great scenery and easy going pace made this one of my favorite all time rides.

I've said the same thing the last two times we've been there.......
....next time try hwy 30 or 7 thru eastern Kentucky on the way down or back. Kinda like the "tail, but ten times as long. Not many crotch rockets there to get in your way either.
